Latest news and hints & tips from the world of Plastering and Rendering

Safety is paramount, stay safe out there. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Southport and the wider Merseyside area. Meaning there will be a strong possibility of heavy ice and snow across Southport later this week.

The Met Office say that frequent snow and sleet showers may lead to some difficult driving conditions and disruption to travel as we approach the weekend.

  • Some brief power outages are possible with a risk of isolated lightning strikes.

  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

The Met Office said on Tuesday: “Frequent wintry showers arriving from the west overnight Thursday into Friday are likely to lead to a fresh covering of snow for areas above 200m (mainly around 2-5 cm, possibly as much as 10 cm over highest ground where showers are most frequent). Falling snow below this level may cause some temporary slushy accumulations which then may freeze and cause dangerous, icy patches where skies remain clear for long enough.” We don’t expect the weather to be extreme enough to stop or slow us down. But you never know. Please stay safe out there.

From all at Moorcroft Plastering, we wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We understand it's been another difficult year for all, but hopefully the upcoming holidays can go someway to putting a smile on everyone's faces.

Throughout 2021 we have continued to work to new safety restrictions, guidance and new ways of working, which have been ever changing since the start of the pandemic. While there was been a pandemic on, more than ever people have been looking after and renovating their homes. With us as a company completing more plastering and rendering jobs throughout Southport and the wider north west than we have ever done before. We look forward to an even better year in 2022 and beyond.

Personally, I also welcomed another bundle of joy into the world with the arrival of my son Elliot. He's already being trained to get the Moorcroft Plastering reins in the future and is already studying hard.

The most important thing to remember is to stay well, look after your loved ones and keep smiling. 2021 was better than 2020 (Just) and 2022 should be better for all.

Until the new year, all the best.

Earlier in the year, we were only too happy to show our support to the news that Southport had confirmed plans for the Town Investment Plan.

We are passionate about the development of the town, and is something we were proud to support.

Therefore, we welcome the news that the Liverpool City Region is set to sign off the first part of this funding in order to make this a reality. This week, 2.3m in pre-development funding was announced in order to enable the progress of the Marine Lake Events Centre project in Southport.

The all-purpose centre represents a huge investment for Sefton Council, which has made it the main project within its £37.5m Town Deal.

The plans feature a new venue with a 1,200-capacity auditorium, exhibition space and co-working areas. A water, light and sound attraction would also be delivered at the marine lake.

On top of the £30m-plus committed by Sefton to the project, the Combined Authority has pledged a further £20m for the actual development phase.

Cllr Ian Maher, leader of Sefton Council, said: “As the largest investment project included within the Southport Town Deal, the Marine Lake Events Centre will provide Southport with an incredible events space with state-of-the-art facilities to attract a wide range of different types of entertainment events and audiences to Southport.
“We believe that attractions such as this will create a genuinely unique visitor experience and will only serve to strengthen our visitor economy.”

We are looking forward too seeing the finished article and the developments getting underway. Southport, a town on the up.
